On Nov. 21st, our family was told that our brother Jay Cornell was shot dead in cold blood by masked gunmen during a home invasion in Laurel, Md. This senseless act has created a loss that will never be healed in our lifetime. Those who knew Jay, knew him as a gentle person whose life was filled with kind deeds. A selfless man that followed the golden rule every day of his life.

Jay was a wonderful husband to his wife Jan.  They embarked on their journey together thirty years ago and were rarely separated   Now Jan must face her life without her loving husband, all because of one deplorable moment of violence.

Jay was a loving Uncle and Great Uncle.  Now his nieces and nephews must grow up without him.  Never really knowing the wonderful spirit that was their Uncle Jay.

He was the type of brother that you could count on. If he was needed, he was there. You always knew when Jay bounded into the room. His sense of humor, his kindness and his unconditional love for his family and friends will never be forgotten, and can never be replaced.
